Music sensation Mitski is bringing her critically acclaimed live show to the big screen. A new concert film, Mitski: The Land, will be released exclusively in cinemas around the world on October 22 for a limited time. The film captures the raw energy and artistry of her live performances from her sold-out tour, bringing a unique cinematic experience to fans across more than 30 countries and 630 theaters.
Filmed over three nights at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre, the film immortalizes the mesmerizing stage presence that has made Mitski a generational talent. Known for her "highly stylized, brilliantly realized" shows, she transforms the stage into a theatrical spectacle. With choreography by Monica Mirabile and accompanied by a seven-piece band, Mitski masterfully uses the stage to convey the themes of her latest album, The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We. The concert film includes tracks from this album as well as reworked versions of songs spanning her celebrated career.
The stage design, created by Andi Watson, enhances the performance with a striking minimalism that reflects the album's themes of isolation and longing. The visuals transition from stark to dreamlike, creating a rich atmosphere that draws viewers into Mitski's world.
Produced by Moniker Films and Good Harbor Music, and directed by Grant James with a mix by her longtime producer Patrick Hyland, Mitski: The Land aims to capture the rich and raw feeling of being at one of her shows. As Marc Allenby, CEO of Trafalgar Releasing, noted, "It's a privilege to bring this film to cinemas and Mitski fans around the world."
Tickets for the limited theatrical run will go on sale starting Monday, September 15, and can be purchased at mitskifilm.com.
