Five-time Grammy-winning collective Snarky Puppy has officially announced a new album, Somni, set for release on November 21, 2025, via GroundUP Music. This album marks a highly anticipated reunion between the US jazz-funk group and the renowned Metropole Orkest, the Dutch orchestra with whom they won a Grammy for their 2015 album, Sylva.

Somni, which is Catalan for "dream," moves inward from its predecessor's outward gaze. According to bassist and composer Michael League, the new music explores the intangible realm of dreams. The album was born from a period of solitude for League, who began composing the material alone in rural Japan. These introspective sketches were then brought to life by the full Snarky Puppy ensemble—which now features four drummers—and the 50-plus-member Metropole Orkest.

The album was recorded live over three nights in Utrecht, Netherlands, capturing the dynamic energy of both ensembles. The lead single, "Waves Upon Waves," is available now, giving fans a first taste of the ambitious project. League says that while it was "by far the most ambitious project we've ever done," it was also "one of the smoothest records we've ever made."

Snarky Puppy, celebrated for its genre-fluid sound and electrifying live shows, has earned five Grammy awards, including for albums like Culcha Vulcha and Empire Central. The Metropole Orkest, the world's only full-time jazz and pop orchestra, shares a Grammy with Snarky Puppy and has collaborated with a host of legends, including Ella Fitzgerald and Jacob Collier.

With Somni, these two formidable musical forces once again combine their unique talents, promising a record that builds on their past success while pushing into new, dream-like sonic territories.
