Beloved independent duo The Lovely Eggs are marking their 20th anniversary with a new album, Bin Juice, a collection of self-recorded outtakes and B-sides from their last album, Eggsistentialism. The album is set for release on October 17 via their own Egg Records.
Known for their fiercely DIY ethos and unique musical universe, The Lovely Eggs—comprising Holly Ross and David Blackwell—have built a loyal following over two decades without ever compromising their artistic vision. Rough Trade has praised their enduring independence, calling it "something to be f---ing applauded."
The new album is an ode to their uncompromising spirit. As Holly explains, the songs didn't fit the vibe of their last record but were too good to abandon. "They’re kind of a sketchbook of songs," David adds, "They’re not polished or laboured over...It’s why we called the record Bin Juice. These were songs we had thrown away."
To give fans a taste of the new material, the band has released the track "The Grind." Holly describes it as a "paperback anthem for the disenfranchised and disillusioned," addressing the universal desire to escape the 9-to-5 routine.
In true Lovely Eggs fashion, the physical release of Bin Juice is a work of art in itself. The vinyl, pressed on "neon toxic slime green," comes hand-packed in a black plastic bin bag, with eye-catching artwork by Casey Raymond. An exclusive edition for Rough Trade will also be available, featuring an alternative sleeve and splattered vinyl.
The album release will be followed by a UK tour in October, giving fans a chance to celebrate the band's 20-year milestone in person. Tickets for the tour are available now, and fans are encouraged to grab them before they're gone.
