People often fear hearing the truth they keep inside them. But the world has seen some of the greatest artists in the world in music that have ignited the truth within people and have taken that out in front of the world with the power of music. Very few rare gems have been able to do that and who better than Toronto-based artist VAYA VAYA to do that. ELUSIVE THUGS’s new four releases are all about this truth getting louder and clearer. It is already seen as a musical revolution and has become much-talked-about amongst music lovers and listeners. ELUSIVE THUGS aims for the bloodstream. The four-track release by VAYA VAYA under the project was dropped on August 9. Tracks like EVER IN, !STAND UP!, BLOW OUT and STEP IN have all been designed to surge through the veins of listeners like a shockwave. This has forced an awareness into places long kept numb. The songs by VAYA VAYA carry a defiant rawness that blends sarcasm, irony and direct confrontation of societal decay. From !STAND UP! That rallies against the systemic theft of rights and innocence, to BLOW OUT’s unmasking of sanctified cruelty, the message is unapologetically in-your-face.
With lyrics like “Children stolen in the dark. Serving all this hidden pride Chanting dirty all the nights. Drinking suffering as a daily oath. Enjoying pain’s yells as a holy mass,” she calls out the truth hidden within people. The sound of her band is a fusion of haunting guitar lines, percussion explosives and guttural vocal delivery. Her songs transcend rock, rising as resistance music and a spiritual protest that dismantles illusions with every note. The band likens their music to explosions in the spine and electric shocks, jolting the listener into a higher state of awareness.
VAYA VAYA explains that at the core of their concept is the fight against the spirit of Jezebel, which is a metaphor for entrenched systems of manipulation and seduction that have warped humanity’s moral compass for centuries. Their passionate musical works are a direct counterspell, a reclamation of truth, sovereignty and divine connection. VAYA VAYA says that society isn’t “on the verge” of collapse; it is already deep into it. People globally are obsessed with power and money without sacred intention and the exploration of the innocent has created a cultural decay that music alone cannot fix, but it can definitely expose.
