Supergrass have announced a 20th-anniversary edition of their fifth studio album, Road to Rouen, set for release on October 3 via BMG. The reissue celebrates the album's significant shift in the band's sound, moving towards a more reflective and introspective style with longer, orchestral arrangements.
To kick off the announcement, the band has released a previously unheard studio track, "Don't Leave Me Alone," which is available to stream now. The dreamy, wistful song offers a new glimpse into the creative period that spawned the album.
The expanded reissue will include the newly remastered original album, along with a collection of previously unreleased live recordings. It will be available digitally and in two physical formats: a Gatefold 2LP on Petrol and Forest Green vinyl and a 2CD digisleeve. Both physical versions will come with a booklet featuring liner notes by Mark Radcliffe.
Bassist Mick Quinn reflected on the album's creation, stating, "From a lost winter in the French countryside we attempted an experimental, uplifting record far outside our comfort zone. Road to Rouen became a compact joy that still holds a cherished place in our hearts. Vive la différence."
Originally released on August 15, 2005, Road to Rouen reached number 9 on the UK Top 10 chart and was praised by critics for its depth and unique sound. It features the singles "Low C," "Fin," and the fan-favorite "St. Petersburg." The album remains a celebrated entry in the band's catalog, showcasing their versatility and willingness to evolve.
