Guitar icon Johnny Marr has today unveiled details of 'Look Out Live!', a new 22-track live album set for release on September 19 via BMG. The album captures the vibrant energy of Marr's sold-out headline performance at London’s Hammersmith Apollo in 2024, part of 'The Spirit Power Tour' celebrating his prolific solo career.
'Look Out Live!' delivers a comprehensive live experience, blending Marr's signature guitar work and emotive vocals across his solo anthems and beloved classics. The tracklist features fan favourites such as 'Hi Hello', 'Easy Money', and 'Somewhere', alongside iconic The Smiths tracks 'This Charming Man', 'How Soon Is Now?', and 'Bigmouth Strikes Again'. The album also includes a powerful rendition of Iggy Pop’s 'The Passenger'.
A highlight of the live recording is the inclusion of two duets with special guest Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys: a dynamic cover of David Bowie's 'Rebel Rebel' and a communal singalong of Electronic’s 'Getting Away With It'. This reunion marks a full-circle moment, celebrating Tennant's original collaboration with Marr on Electronic's 1989 debut single. Both duets are available to stream now.
Marr's spirit of collaboration extends into 2025, having recently teamed up with Franz Ferdinand for their single 'Build It Up' and a surprise reunion with The The bandmate Matt Johnson at the Forever Now Festival, which marked Marr's exclusive UK summer live performance.
Earlier this year, Marr was honoured with the 'Record Store Day Legend' status, recognising his enduring influence and advocacy for independent record stores. He is only the second artist to receive this prestigious award, following Elton John in 2017.
'Look Out Live!' will be available in various formats, including Limited Edition Orange Double Vinyl, Black Double Vinyl, Limited Edition 2CD, and digitally. The vinyl editions feature 18 tracks, with the full 22-track set available on the 2CD and digital versions. Johnny Marr is also set to tour across North America and Europe throughout September and October 2025.
