Europe's largest cultural event, Notting Hill Carnival, is set to transform the streets of West London once again this August Bank Holiday weekend, from Saturday, August 23 to Monday, August 25, 2025. Following a crucial boost in funding to enhance safety and infrastructure, the 2025 edition promises both new energy and a deep respect for cherished traditions.

Three Days of Unforgettable Festivities

The celebrations kick off on Saturday, August 23, with the renowned Panorama Steelpan competition at Emslie Horniman's Pleasance Park. This year features the highly anticipated Junior Panorama debut, shining a spotlight on emerging young steelpan talent.

Sunday, August 24, marks the vibrant J’ouvert procession starting at 6 am on Canal Way Roundabout, followed by the Children’s Day Parade which launches from the Opening Ceremony at 10 am. Sound Systems and Stages will be alive with music from 12 pm to 7 pm.

The grand Main Parade takes over the streets on Monday, August 25, from 10:30 am, showcasing the incredible artistry and heritage of Carnival culture through elaborate, year-long handmade costumes. Sound Systems and Stages will continue to pulsate with energy until 7 pm.

Remembering and Reflecting

At 3 pm on both Sunday and Monday, Carnival attendees are invited to join a 72-second silence. This poignant moment will honor the 72 lives lost in the Grenfell Tower fire, as well as remembering Takayo Nembhard, Cher Maximen, and Kelso Cochrane, whose memory stands as a powerful symbol of racial injustice and the origins of Carnival's resilience.

New Campaigns and Partnerships

This year sees the launch of the R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Campaign, aiming to foster greater understanding and appreciation for Carnival's roots, community, and cultural pride. Notting Hill Carnival has also announced a vital partnership with the Elba Hope Foundation and their Don’t Stop Your Future (DSYF) campaign, which is committed to ending knife and violent crime.

"We can’t ignore the impact of knife crime on our event," states Matthew Phillip, CEO of Notting Hill Carnival Ltd. "Carnival is not the cause of this crisis, but it can be part of the solution." He highlighted the staggering 16,789 knife offences recorded in London in 2024, emphasizing Carnival's role in providing crucial creative and cultural outlets for young people.

Attendees will also benefit from the return of Trippin with the official Notting Hill Carnival Map, an essential digital guide for navigating the event, available for download from NHCarnival.org and trippin.world.

With critical funding secured and new initiatives taking center stage, Notting Hill Carnival 2025 is poised to be a powerful testament to heritage, freedom, and togetherness.
