To meet demand, Scottish indie-rockers The Fratellis have announced extra dates for their UK tour celebrating the 20-year anniversary of their Brit Award-winning debut album ‘Costello Music’.
Starting at Nottingham’s Rock City on 5th February, the now 16-date tour will include additional shows in Manchester (21st), Bristol (23rd), Newcastle (24th) and Glasgow (26th).
A venue pre-sale for the additional shows will begin at 10.00am on Thursday 17th July, before tickets go on general sale at 10.00am on Friday 18th July, available from www.thefratellis.co.uk.
The Fratellis burst onto the music scene in autumn 2006 with their blistering debut album, Costello Music, which spent 83 weeks on the UK Albums Chart Top 100, peaking at Number 2.
Filled to the brim with catchy riffs and brash vocals, Costello Music featured some of the band’s most enduring tracks, including the cheeky ‘Henrietta’, the slightly softer ‘Whistle For The Choir’ and the truly iconic ‘Chelsea Dagger’.
Two decades on, after a run of festival slots this summer, including a performance to a jam-packed audience on the Avalon Stage at Glastonbury, The Fratellis’ enduring line-up of lead singer/guitarist Jon Fratelli, bassist Barry Fratelli and drummer Mince Fratelli will embark on their extensive UK tour as an expanded nine-piece band to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of their much-loved debut album.
Jon Fratelli said, “The response since we announced this tour has been incredible, with all of the dates either sold-out or about to sell-out, so we’re excited to be able to play these extra dates which, of course, include a hometown show in Glasgow to end the tour. We really can’t wait to see everybody in February.”
Since introducing themselves with Costello Music, The Fratellis have continually reasserted themselves as a staple act in British guitar music, winning over new generations of fans who have bolstered their live presence. The band now has six full-length studio records to their name, with the latest, ‘Drunk Under a Full Moon’, arriving in 2021.
Pairing the stomping singalongs for which The Fratellis first found fame with lush songs steeped in brass and strings, the record was a treasure trove of excess, earning the band a top-three chart position in their home country as well as praise from the likes of Gigwise and Riff Magazine. A deluxe version of the record arrived in 2022, featuring eight unheard tracks.
Now, though, The Fratellis are looking forward taking Costello Music back out on the road, celebrating the album that kick-started it all.
