Rising from the underground with purpose and power, UK-based DJ/producer Tuff Rhythm proudly launches his brand-new label, Tuff Groovez, with its first release: the dancefloor-detonating “The Drop.”

Co-produced with long-time friend and collaborator Steve Ricketts (aka Riggsy), known to many as dharkfunkh, the track marks a creative reunion years in the making. Written after the duo reconnected, “The Drop” is a bold, peak-time Tech House weapon crafted for the frontlines of club culture.

Crafted for late-night intensity and main stage moments, “The Drop” is a high-octane fusion of rolling percussion, hypnotic stabs, and a gritty, retro-inspired analogue synth lead. Anchored by a monster bassline and driven by infectious groove, the record is built to move bodies and ignite dancefloors, from underground clubs to festival arenas.

“This release is more than just a track — it’s a mission statement,” says Tuff Rhythm. “Reconnecting with both Steve (dharkfunkh) and Dave (Pattern Perception) reignited something in me. It brought everything full circle, and gave me the spark to return with a new focus. I rebuilt my studio, and dived deep into the modern music landscape. Tuff Groovez is about delivering quality, credible House music with a nostalgic twist, and this release sets the tone.”

“Working with dharkfunkh is always a blast. He’s absolutely smashing it right now and has played some huge shows, most recently Friendship in Miami alongside Armand Van Helden. He’s collaborated with some amazing artists like Vanilla Ace and Princess Superstar too. The guy’s a machine, and his clothing brand ‘Our Era’ is being rocked by top artists across the scene, spanning all kinds of genres. I can’t wait for the next session, but we’ve already got plenty more tunes on the way, so keep an eye out!”

Behind the launch of Tuff Groovez lies a deeper journey. Tuff Rhythm’s roots trace back to the golden era of UK Hard Dance, where he made waves as Steve-NRG, resident at the legendary Sundissential and co-founder of Razor Recordings alongside the late LT1 (Lee Tracey). Razor began as a vinyl label and transitioned into the digital era. After stepping away from music following a series of personal losses, this release marks a meaningful return to the scene — now rooted in House music but still fuelled by that same uncompromising drive.

Now, after time spent healing, studying, and retooling his sound, he returns to his roots in House music, with the same underground spirit and a sharper-than-ever creative vision. “The Drop” sets the tone: credible, high-energy music with a nostalgic twist. With early DJ support and momentum building, this release plants a firm flag for what’s to come from both Tuff Rhythm and Tuff Groovez.

“The Drop” by Tuff Rhythm & dharkfunkh is out now via Tuff Groovez.
