Music supervision and clearance company Clearly Music has announced a partnership with veteran music supervisor Mike Turner, as revealed by company founder Jonathan Lane. Turner joins the Los Angeles-based company as a partner to enhance Clearly Music’s reach and bandwidth across all areas of media, with many new and exciting projects currently underway.
Turner is an award-winning and GMS Awards-nominated film and TV music supervisor. He has music supervised films produced by Judd Apatow, Paul Schrader, Wes Anderson, Mel Gibson, McG, and David Robert Mitchell, as well as series for CBS/Paramount+, Netflix, MTV, ABC/Freeform, Hulu, and VICELAND/A&E, among others. Some of the many titles Turner has supervised the music for include Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday, Flight Risk, Winter Spring Summer or Fall, Paint, Breakwater, Louder Than You Think, Love Hard, Holidate, and Under the Silver Lake.
“Mike and I have been friends for many years and collaborated on many past projects. It’s always been my dream to be able to work every day with my friends. I’ve largely been successful at accomplishing this throughout my career and so it’s only fitting that Mike joining Clearly Music as a partner would be no different,” shares Lane. “Mike is a truly gifted, highly experienced and very well-respected music supervisor and will allow Clearly Music to scale while elevating our creative and expanding our offering. I couldn’t be more thrilled to be working alongside of him!”
“I’ve worked with Jon on a per-project basis for several years so teaming up with him as formal business partners was probably inevitable,” adds Turner. “It’s a great combination of strengths, and I’m excited to see what we can do together. We’re already off to a great start.”
In addition to the partnership with Turner, Clearly Music has also established a relationship with the newly renovated Squeak E. Clean Studios Hollywood. Formerly the iconic Crystal Industries Sound of the ‘60s and ‘70s, it’s now also a state-of-the-art post-audio facility. Streamlined access to the studio’s first-class scoring and dub stages is a powerful resource for Clearly Music clients.
Clearly Music was founded in 2015 by Lane as a creative music services and clearance company positioned to meet the growing demands of entertainment marketing and brand advertising clients. Since then, it has quietly grown to become a secret weapon among savvy distributors, trailer houses, and brands who need the full slate of contracted in-house music department services with a boutique turn-key approach. Naturally, Clearly Music expanded into the narrative film and television space. From expert music curation that makes scenes sing to air-tight clearance, license negotiation, composer contracting, and delivery, Clearly Music handles it all.
Clearly Music – with Jonathan Lane (Founder/Music Supervisor), Mike Turner (Partner/Music Supervisor), and Caleb McFadden (Associate Music Supervisor) – works with MGM/Amazon Film Marketing, Monster Energy Company (in partnership with Level Up Music Productions), SAKS Fifth Avenue, Stampede Studios, goodform, SunnyBoy Entertainment, and many more. The most recent feature film release music supervised by the Clearly Music team was the coming-of-age romantic dramedy Winter Spring Summer or Fall starring Jenna Ortega and directed by Tiffany Paulsen for Paramount (released in April). The soundtrack was released on Lakeshore Records featuring an original score by Zac Rae (Death Cab For Cutie) and original songs by indie folk/rock darling Evangeline. Clearly Music has also supervised the music for seven feature film projects currently awaiting release in the coming year.
“Since the dual strikes of 2023 and going forward, I’ve been able to take on a lot more independent projects with innovative filmmakers than I would normally have the bandwidth for,” says Turner. “This is largely due to the team support I now have as a partner in Clearly Music. As more commercial film and series work starts to come back, we’ll be able to service all levels of productions with the team we have here.”
“Thankfully, Clearly Music has been steadily growing organically across the entertainment marketing and branded content sectors since its inception a decade ago,” expresses Lane. “I’ve wanted the ability to expand the business for a long time and welcome in more work. With Mike joining the company, we can now meet the demands of the entertainment industry at large, intentionally take on more clients, and increase our services across TV, film and streaming content. We’re very excited for the future of the business and it’s looking like we’ll have a large slate of new films to round out 2025, going into 2026.”

About Mike Turner:Mike Turner grew up in Seattle during the infamous grunge explosion of the 1990s, where he began his path in the music business by working in recording studios and playing in bands as a teenager. He credits part of his success in music supervision to the breadth and versatility of experience gained working in various creative corners of the music business before discovering film/TV music as a career. This eventually included music publishing, where he found a niche working with Bug Music (now part of BMG) in Chicago in the early 2000s. Turner has been based in Los Angeles since 2009.
