Good Charlotte announces new album 'Motel Du Cap' out August 8th, drops lead single "Rejects"
26 June 2025
Multi-platinum rock heavyweights Good Charlotte have officially announced their highly anticipated eighth studio album, "Motel Du Cap," set for release on August 8th via Atlantic Records. Fans can pre-order the album now, marking a significant return seven years after their last release, Generation Rx. The lead single, "Rejects," which was recently teased on a mysterious billboard in Los Angeles, is out now, accompanied by an official music video.
The inspiration for "Motel Du Cap" ignited during a private gig in 2023 at the famed Hotel du Cap in France, where Good Charlotte performed for a friend's wedding. Joel Madden recalls the experience as "this wild, once-in-a-lifetime vibe," free from external pressures. This moment of pure, unfiltered connection reignited the creative spark for the Madden brothers, becoming the heart of an album that promises to be their most personal record to date, a love letter to stripping things back and letting the music speak for itself.
The newly released lead single, "Rejects," is a gritty, defiant anthem for outsiders, delivered with the raw honesty that has defined Good Charlotte since their inception. Produced by Jordan Fish and Zakk Cervini, who also co-wrote the track alongside Benji and Joel Madden, "Rejects" embodies the band's signature sound. The accompanying official music video, directed by Erik Rojas and Lenna Onto, ingeniously blends a live-action performance from the band with the world of Claymates™ animation, depicting a central character's journey from boyhood to mundane adulthood, paralleling Good Charlotte's own narrative before culminating in an interwoven performance.
Good Charlotte has hit the ground running with their return. They made the live debut of "Rejects" on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night. Their busy schedule continues with a performance on the Good Morning America Summer Concert Series on August 8th, followed by a set at LIV Golf Chicago on August 9th. Last month, the band also took the stage at Welcome to Rockville for their first show in nearly two years, delivering a fan-favorite set that included "The Anthem," a surprise cover of "Teenage Dirtbag" with Wheatus singer Brendan Brown, and closing with "Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous."
