Liverpudlian virtuoso pianist Brad Kella celebrates a significant milestone with the release of his debut album, ‘Phoebe’s Melody,’ out now on Modern Sky UK. This remarkable record arrives from a unique artist whose inspiring journey captured the nation's heart on Channel 4’s The Piano.
Accompanying the album's release is the single ‘New Beginnings,’ a fan-favorite piece that marked Brad's breakout moment on the show. This lush, cinematic composition reflects Brad’s incredible journey from homelessness and playing street pianos to living out his childhood dream, performing to thousands in prestigious venues. "It’s been the best feeling in the entire world," he shared from his Liverpool home, reflecting on his newfound success.
Brad’s life transformed after being crowned the winner of The Piano by superstar pianists Lang Lang and Mika. Since then, he has signed with independent record label Modern Sky, performed at Classic FM Live at the Royal Albert Hall, and headlined a sold-out show at Liverpool’s renowned Philharmonic Hall. "I let the audience know I’m just a normal lad from Liverpool whose dreams have come true," he recalled of the Philharmonic gig, likening the atmosphere to "my own classical version of Anfield."
A self-taught musician, Brad brings an unconventional yet deeply heartfelt approach to his broad neo-classical style. He recorded 'Phoebe's Melody' by playing his own compositions from memory for eight hours at London's RAK studios, collaborating with top string players and orchestrator Rosie Danvers (Coldplay, Adele). "Each piece is a reflection of a moment in my life, a step-by-step musical illustration," he explains, naming the album in honour of his two daughters.
The album's opening track, ‘Home To Me,’ captures Brad’s emotional journey to finding stability and safety. The theme of home resonates deeply throughout the record, reflecting his experiences as a foster child. Brad envisions his melodically beautiful compositions being used for "great things, whether it’s in advertisements or even movies," citing legendary film composers Danny Elfman and Hans Zimmer as influences.
Having recently supported Gary Barlow on a UK tour and completed sold-out headline shows in London, Brad Kella is now poised for his first-ever headline tour in September 2025, with dates across Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, and London.
