Creeper release thrash-infused 'Headstones,' announce new album and major tour support
06 June 2025
Following a triumphant, sold-out performance at KOKO on May 30th that concluded their critically acclaimed Sanguivore era, Creeper wasted no time in ushering in their next chapter. True to their dramatic flair, the band unveiled a new character, the Mistress of Death, during a vampiric horror short film that hinted at what’s to come. Now, Creeper takes a blood-soaked step forward with the release of their electrifying new single, ‘HEADSTONES,’ teasing their upcoming album, ‘Sanguivore II: Mistress Of Death,’ due later this year.
‘HEADSTONES’ explodes out of the gate with a whirlwind of classic thrash riffs and relentless punk rhythms before soaring into a characteristically larger-than-life, arena-ready hook. The track showcases exhilarating sonic elements, including dueling Judas Priest-style guitar solos from co-founder and lead guitarist Ian Miles and guitarist Lawrie Pattison, while Hannah Hermione’s gothic-gospel vocal harmonies add a haunting layer. Lyrically, the song dives deeper into the band's fascination with vampire mythology, with William Von Ghould’s playful innuendo potentially delivering one of the greatest vampire anthems ever written.
The track was expertly produced by Tom Dalgety (Ghost, Rammstein, The Damned), who helped Creeper amplify their most theatrical and unhinged excesses.
Frontman William Von Ghould commented, “‘Headstones’ is the first glimpse into Sanguivore II: Mistress of Death. Set in a blood-drenched vision of the 1980s, it follows a vampire rock band on a tour soaked in violence and excess. It features some of our heaviest and most theatrical guitar work yet, echoing Iron Maiden, with Lawrie Pattison and Ian Miles trading solos in the bridge. It’s also the fastest single we’ve released in years. Lyrically, it sets the stage for what’s to come in the album’s narrative, exploring the dark perils of rock ’n’ roll, sins of the flesh, and pure evil. This is the band at its most over-the-top and unashamedly dramatic. But as our hero Jim Steinman once said, ‘Sometimes going all the way is just the start.’”
The accompanying video for ‘HEADSTONES’ powerfully channels the ferocity and charisma of Creeper’s renowned live show, underlining their undeniable festival-headlining potential.
On the live front, Creeper’s summer festival schedule includes a main stage set at Bloodstock in August, alongside appearances at Rock am Park / Rock im Ring and Graspop Metal Meeting. This autumn will also see them embark on a UK and European tour as special guests for Ice Nine Kills, culminating in a massive show at the OVO Arena Wembley on December 12th.
