Swedish baroque pop duo Mon Rayon follow the breakout success of their debut EP Post Romantic Stress Disorder with Lilac — the sweeping, introspective first single from their upcoming debut album.

The EP, praised in Gaffa, NT, Värmlands Folkbladet, Kmag and more, landed the band on editorial playlists like New Music Friday, Indie Highlights, and Fresh Finds. They celebrated the release with a sold-out show at Bar Brooklyn Debaser, earning a reputation for their theatrical sound and striking live presence.

About Lilac:
Lilac features elegant string arrangements by Julia Nilsson and Daniel Migdal, complementing the duo's signature velvety vocals and meticulous instrumentation.

The track unfolds like a late-night film reel of memories: moments of embarrassment, vulnerability, and fleeting beauty.

With its cinematic scope and poetic lyricism, the song reflects on letting go, reclaiming agency, and finding harmony in emotional dissonance.

“Lilac is about that moment when your own memories turn on you — when you suddenly become the punchline of your past. But there's a strange comfort in that too,” the band explains.
“We wanted the song to feel like drifting through a lucid dream, where regret and beauty coexist.”

About Mon Rayon:
Comprised of Josef Ask and Christoffer Zetterlund, Mon Rayon are deeply involved in every step of their creative process — from songwriting to mastering — bringing a distinct sense of intimacy and precision to their work.

Their debut EP was praised by Gaffa magazine, who described the band as "baroque pop with a big heart and shared phone notes."

Speaking to Gaffa, Josef shared:

"It’s been really comforting to write these songs. We’ve been able to express things we’ve been thinking about, and it feels like we actually managed to say what we meant."
Christoffer added:

"There’s a kind of positive provocation between us — we draw music out of each other."
The band’s DIY ethos and emotional transparency resonated with Swedish audiences, with local press highlighting the natural cohesion of their EP:

“A red thread runs through it all — five songs that simply belong together.”
Outside their work as Mon Rayon, they have worked as session musicians for artists such as Jackie Mere, Emilia Pantic, Maia Hirasawa, and Nadja Evelina, further solidifying their place in Sweden’s musical landscape.
