Rising indie artist Rip Gerber continues to turn heads with his raw and emotionally charged songwriting. His latest release, “Tell Me Tell Me,” is a deeply personal ballad born out of tragedy: the sudden death of his father during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gerber, who first captured attention with his breakout debut single “Three-Chord Town”—which hit #1 on Amazon Music—has quickly built a following for his heartfelt lyrics and cinematic music videos, now totaling over 200,000 views across platforms.

Released today, “Tell Me Tell Me” dives into Gerber’s experience of racing to be by his father’s side as he left the hospital in April 2020 to pass away at home in Clearwater, Florida. The track, paired with a moving visual, captures the pain of missed words, final moments, and the emotional distance many families endured during the pandemic.

“The chorus, ‘tell me what you’re feeling inside,’ is my plea to understand Dad—a cry for the connection we never fully made,” Gerber says. “This song is about cherishing the people we love and asking the hard questions before it’s too late.”
Accompanied by solemn piano chords and haunting vocals, the song reflects not only Gerber’s personal grief but a broader collective loss felt around the world. In the music video, Gerber juxtaposes archival family footage with present-day performance shots, creating a stark contrast between memory and mourning.

“Tell Me Tell Me” is the latest track from Gerber’s forthcoming concept album Three-Chord Town, set to release in October 2025. The album explores themes of isolation, regret, and emotional resilience during the pandemic era.

“I’m heartbroken that Dad never heard it,” Gerber adds. “The words came too late.”

“Tell Me Tell Me” is now available on all major streaming platforms.
