Rising star Michael Marcagi returns with his deeply personal new EP Midwest Kid, out now via Warner Records. The five-track release cements the Platinum-certified singer-songwriter’s status as one of today’s most compelling new voices in Americana and folk-inspired rock.

The EP kicks off with standout single “Wish I Never Met You,” a collaboration with Wesley Schultz of The Lumineers. The track blends piano, tambourine, and sunny whistling into an infectious soundscape, while Marcagi and Schultz trade lines on a bittersweet love song that ends in a cathartic, chant-worthy chorus: “It’s better to love you as I lose you. I don’t miss you. I wish I never met you at all.”

Other highlights include “Stick Around,” a swelling anthem about change and the ache of staying behind. Its explosive refrain — “Cause I won’t go if you just stick around” — is destined to resonate with fans navigating life’s transitions.

Marcagi describes Midwest Kid as “five songs with a very similar theme” rooted in his hometown and the relationships that have shaped him. “I'm very proud of where I’m from and I hope to carry that with me forever,” he shares.

The EP arrives following a string of successful singles, including the fan-favorite “Flyover State,” which Marcagi performed live on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and CBS Saturday Sessions. He previously collaborated with Schultz on “Good Enough” and dropped his debut solo EP American Romance in 2024, featuring the viral hit “Scared to Start,” which cracked the Billboard Hot Rock & Alternative Songs Top 5 and amassed over 800 million global streams.

Currently on tour with The Lumineers in Europe, Marcagi will join Rainbow Kitten Surprise for a U.S. run this summer.
