Dope Lemon drops new single ‘Sugarcat’ ahead of fifth album Golden Wolf
17 April 2025
Today, Australian indie-psych project Dope Lemon—helmed by Angus Stone—releases its latest single, ‘Sugarcat’, the third taste of the hotly-anticipated upcoming album Golden Wolf, set for release on 2 May 2025.
Following the earlier singles ‘Golden Wolf’ and ‘Electric Green Lambo’, ‘Sugarcat’ introduces a bold new stylistic chapter for Stone, diving deeper into the dreamy, genre-blending world Dope Lemon is known for. “This one’s made to make you move deeper into the daydream,” Stone says of the track. “It’s a new chapter stylistically for my writing with Dope Lemon.”
To accompany the single, Dope Lemon also shared a playful new music video, which Stone describes as a diamond heist narrative—complete with a hopeful sail into the sunset. “It’s a bit of fun,” he laughs.
Golden Wolf marks the fifth studio album from Dope Lemon, a project that’s carved out its own niche by fusing sun-drenched rock, introspective lyricism, and psychedelic soul. The album explores themes of reflection and forward momentum, moving beyond the nostalgic tones of 2023’s Kimosabè to envision the open road ahead.
Since debuting with Honey Bones in 2016, Dope Lemon has achieved over 700 million streams, sold more than 565,000 albums, and built a dedicated global following. With chart-topping releases like Smooth Big Cat and Rose Pink Cadillac, the project has headlined major festivals, toured internationally, and even shared stages with Post Malone.
With Golden Wolf, Dope Lemon continues to evolve—shimmering with nocturnal grooves and a sunlit soul that invites listeners to slow down and get lost in the music.
‘Sugarcat’ is streaming now. Golden Wolf is out 2 May 2025.
