Craig David announces ninth studio album 'Commitment' with star-studded collaborations and UK in-store tour

Craig David is back with a brand new album. The British R&B icon has officially announced the release of his ninth studio project, Commitment, set to drop on August 8th via Believe. The album promises to be a landmark moment in his storied career, arriving 25 years after his game-changing debut, Born To Do It.
Crafted alongside a stellar production team including Mike Brainchild, Toddla T, Tre-Jean Marie, and Wretch 32, Commitment features high-profile collaborations with JoJo, Tiwa Savage, and Louisa Johnson. The 13-track collection blends Craig’s trademark smooth vocals with fresh sonic textures, and it’s already generating serious buzz with the release of its lead single, “Wake Up” — available to stream now.
“Wake Up” taps into Craig’s garage roots while channeling late-night R&B grooves. “It’s my way of respecting the cultural foundation of where it all started,” Craig explains. “It’s about not falling asleep on things we care about — like UK Garage. That sound deserves to be nurtured for generations to come.”
The album announcement comes hot on the heels of Craig’s surprise guest appearance with Usher during the London stop of the Past, Present, Future tour. Adding to the excitement, he’ll also be hitting the road for an intimate in-store tour across the UK, kicking off August 8th at HMV Birmingham and concluding on August 12th at London’s Outernet in partnership with Rough Trade. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 18th.
Craig describes Commitment as a full-circle moment: “This album means to me now what Born To Do It meant to me back then. Making music still gives me that same excitement — but now with 25 years of experience.”
