Some things are just meant to be. Alicia Best (US) and Robert Jackson (UK) met while busking on the cobbled streets of Ireland and discovered both a musical and personal harmony that was serendipitous. In the decade since forming A Different Thread, they have toured over a dozen countries, supporting the likes of The Milk Carton Kids and Jody Stephens (Big Star), and garnering critical praise from the likes of KLOF Mag which hailed the duo as “warm, deep songwriters that have drank from the well of 20th century tradition.”
“Come On Home Molly” feels like a letter never opened-—a nostalgic harmony rich singalong about long lost friendships and leaving an open door. The single release coincides with the announcement of a forthcoming album release: Over Again, out September 2nd. Recording was split between Betty’s Studio in North Carolina (Watchhouse, The Mountain Goats) and Alma Vale Studio in Bristol, UK (Phantom Limb/Yola, Elles Bailey).
Drawing inspiration from artists like Gillian Welch, John Prine, and The Avett Brothers, A Different Thread maintains a distinct sound that is their own, setting them apart in the contemporary Americana scene.
Catch them on their UK tour (late May through July) with Birmingham-based double bassist Mike Seal. Audience members will have exclusive access to limited pre-release copies of the new album—available only at shows.
