Mariah Carey is marking the 20th anniversary of her landmark 2005 album The Emancipation of Mimi with a definitive expanded reissue set for release on May 30 via Def Jam Records/UMe.

Touted as one of the best-selling albums of the 21st century and the crown jewel of Mariah’s discography, The Emancipation of Mimi features hits like “We Belong Together,” “Shake It Off,” and “It’s Like That.” The reissue’s centerpiece is a deluxe 5LP vinyl box set curated by Carey herself, packed with dozens of rarities and fan favorites. The collection includes remixes, unreleased tracks, instrumentals, acapellas, and a 28-page booklet featuring exclusive photos and a personal message from Mariah reflecting on the album’s legacy.

“This album has some of my biggest hits and personal favorites,” Carey said. “It’s amazing to celebrate this milestone with my fans.”

Fans will be treated to previously unreleased gems, including the long-awaited “When I Feel It,” 2021’s Mimi’s Late Night Valentine’s Mix of “We Belong Together,” and her performance mashup of “Don’t Forget About Us” and “We Belong Together” from the 2024 American Music Awards. The box set also features a fresh remix of “Don’t Forget About Us” by KAYTRANADA, released today.

A digital deluxe edition will drop the same day, featuring selections from the vinyl set plus digital-only tracks. A 2LP edition will also be available for collectors.

Originally released on April 12, 2005, The Emancipation of Mimi marked a career resurgence for Carey, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and becoming the best-selling U.S. album of that year. The record earned her 10 GRAMMY nominations across two years and solidified her status as pop and R&B royalty.

With a sold-out Vegas residency wrapped and a global tour on the horizon, Mariah Carey continues to celebrate Mimi’s legacy, two decades later, with timeless style, unmatched vocals, and a gift for reinvention that keeps fans captivated.
