Bambi is almost here! Connecticut punk favorites, Anxious, are gearing up for their highly anticipated sophomore album, due out this Friday February 21st via Run For Cover Records, and today they're sharing one more single ahead of the big day: the gigantic album opener "Never Said."

Bambi follows Anxious' acclaimed 2022 full-length, Little Green House, and finds the band fully embracing the widescreen alternative rock songwriting they've always hinted at. It's a record of growth and depth that's sonically ambitious while further amplifying the seamless combination of hardcore grit and classic emo dynamism that's made them such a beloved young band. Earlier singles "Some Girls," "Counting Sheep" and "Head & Spine" have introduced listeners to Anxious' exciting next chapter (as well as drawing praise from the likes of Stereogum, BrooklynVegan, Uproxx, Alt Press, and more) and "Never Said" keeps the big guitars and bigger melodies coming.

Vocalist Grady Allen discussed the new track saying:
"In our music subculture, there often seems to be this dynamic where people stay close to others regardless of the fact of whether they really like them or not. You hear subtle whispers and rumors about what people really think of you, but those feelings are never expressed to you directly. It's an exhausting social dynamic and one that I am desperate to let go of. 'Never Said's lyrics focus on that idea. The song came about super weirdly and indirectly. I went over to Dante's house last winter and we just started shooting this riff back and forth. We started frankenstein-ing new parts onto it over several months and eventually it just sort of fell into what it was. It was a cool process- we rarely write that way. It was fun to just sort of keep throwing things together and see what happened."

Anxious' debut album Little Green House was drew praise from fans and critics alike (including Pitchfork, Stereogum, The FADER, Paste Magazine, BrooklynVegan, and many more), and the band followed it three fantastic singles "Where You Been," "Sunsign," and "Down, Down" pushed the their sound forward. Now Bambi picks up where those songs left off and skyrockets the Anxious' songwriting to even greater heights. Produced, engineered, and mixed by Brett Romnes (The Movielife, Front Bottoms, Oso Oso) at The Barber Shop Studios, it's a record of meticulously arranged, ultra-dynamic music that's perfectly tailored pack a huge musical and emotional punch. Bambi takes big swings, and on song after song, it connects.

Lyrically, the record is a warts-and-all portrait of leaving your adolescence behind; the breakups, the burnouts, the inevitable challenges of ending adulthood—all of which are further complicated by trying to avoid the frustrating cliches of being in a quickly rising band and spending the better part of two years on tour. The result is a massive leap forward and an endlessly anthemic rock record. Bambi is the sound of Anxious putting everything on the line and coming out on the other side better than ever.

Anxious will be touring heavily in support of Bambi, starting with a lengthy US headline run in the Spring with support from Ultra Q and Stateside. The band have also announced a new run of EU and UK tour dates with Gel and Chastity. The dates will see them play venues across the UK as well as festivals including 2000trees. Full routing below.
