This year Snowapple will be unveiling a film and album project called ‘A Moonless Night’. The first single and video is out now.
‘You’re Mine’ is the opening song from the film and album and is sung and written by Laurien 'SHE' Snowapple. It is loosely based on the Mexican song 'Luz de Luna' by Álvaro Genaro Carrillo Alarcón. The song is about a woman who is acknowledging her possessive, vulnerable, and jealous nature.
The story of ‘A Moonless Night’ film evolves in a bar where lost souls congregate, reminiscent of David Lynch's ‘Blue Velvet’ bar, stuck in an endless night. An archetypal bar, with archetypal customers: a diva, a noisy braggart, two chess players following their own rules, and a waiter with his head in the clouds. In the film you follow their obsessions, and also the possibility of redemption. Is it possible to be saved? And do we want to be saved?
The film, will première in Tuschinski in October and be screened in Paris, London, Los Angeles and Mexico City. It moves fluidly between forms; poetry, macroscopic images of materials, fantastic landscapes, songs and ecstatic play. The ambition with this film was to create a dystopian universe, as through the prism of a dream or a kaleidoscope- a film that unfolds under your closed eyelids.
A Moonless Night album features songs from the film and will be released in October on streaming platforms as well as a limited-edition vinyl, which features bonus tracks, poetry and beautiful artwork.
