Fana Hues returns with new single and video 'Paper Tigers' + joins Lucky Daye's US summer tour
01 May 2024
Fana Hues returns with a passionate, emotionally raw single and video, “Paper Tigers,” out now via Bright Antenna Records. Hinting at Fana’s next chapter, “Paper Tigers” ribbons psychedelic guitars with boundless, evocative vocals in pristine execution. Its accompanying video, directed by Kee Hwang, finds Fana and her lover trading city life for the romance of a glistening airstream that sets out for a journey. Of the single, Fana says: “Paper tigers are all bluster and no muster. I'm the opposite. I'm big on displaying love, yes, but I actually possess the love I'm showcasing. This song is about the discovery of a fresh love that's so good, you have to scream about it.”
“Paper Tigers” is the first release since Fana’s critically acclaimed 2022 project flora + fana, an exquisite meditation on self-love heralded by NPR, Vogue, Complex, The Guardian, Billboard and more. Since releasing her debut, Hues, in 2020, Fana has steadily risen through the ranks as a promising singer and songwriter, earning a prominent feature on Tyler The Creator’s “Sweet / I Thought You Wanted to Dance" with Brent Faiyaz from his Grammy Award-winning album CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST. Fana’s compelling performances and limitless ability to paint emotions led to touring with Raveena, Snoh Aalegra, and Giveon in the US and playing a sold-out headline tour in Europe (including London’s Omeara), as well as gaining fans in the likes of Janelle Monae, Sabrina Claudio, and Lucky Daye.
Earlier this month, Fana took the stage at Spotify’s Fresh Finds live experience in Chicago alongside artists like Paris Texas, Slow Pulp and Casper Sage. Today, she was also announced as the special guest on Lucky Daye’s US summer tour, kicking off on July 11th in San Francisco, and stopping at legendary venues like New York City’s Radio City Music Hall and Los Angeles’s Greek Theatre—tickets will be on sale May 3rd HERE. To celebrate the single’s release, on May 3rd, Fana will be hosting a “Paper Tigers” release event in Los Angeles at Paper Tiger Bar.
With new music on the horizon, Fana Hues’ return marks an exciting new chapter in her masterful artistic evolution.
