Alternative electro-pop artist/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Robert DeLong returns with 'Deserve It All (feat. Pahua),' his no-holds-barred declaration of where he is in his career and in life.

“‘Deserve It All’ was musically conceived from a jam with multi-instrumentalist Alan Vega,” says DeLong. “He guided us towards this sort of low-slung psychedelic Cumbia groove. From there I brought the initial idea to my studio, where I fleshed out the song, and for whatever reason I felt compelled to write a song about the double-meaning behind the phrase ‘Deserve It All,’ and the paradox of feeling like we haven't gotten what we deserve, both positive and negative.

“I sent the track to Pahua with an open invitation to write her own verse in Spanish and add her own authentic flavor to the song. I was ecstatic with what she sent back, and the tune morphed into this psychedelic Cumbia alt-electro-pop hybrid: a beautiful testament to the convergence of how multiple styles and perspectives can yield something altogether unexpected and singular.”

"'Deserve It All' is a fun song with good humor and a lot of energy,” says Pahua. “I loved working with Robert because he has a great musical openness. He is a diverse musician with a lot of magic and charisma, and I love the way he incorporated Mexican culture and Latin sounds into this song, fusing different genres together."

Shot in Mexico City by director and frequent DeLong collaborator Diego Lozano (Missio, k.flay), the video for 'Deserve It All' blends psychedelic imagery with Mexican iconography and captures the song’s themes of facing demons and taking control of one’s destiny.

The song is the first of a new collection forthcoming from DeLong; more details will be announced soon.
