The Music Producers Guild, in association with Dolby & Mix with Masters are delighted to announce Grammy Award winning, mastering engineer Emily Lazar as winner of the 2024 MPG Inspiration Award.

This prestigious award, sponsored by Audio Note, is given to a professional who, in the opinion of the MPG Awards board of directors, is responsible for work that has significantly inspired others. Previous recipients have included Imogen Heap, Nile Rodgers, Roni Size, Skepta, Damon Albarn, Sylvia Massy and Linda Perry.

Lazar’s genre-defying discography of more than 4,000 albums boasts collaborations with icons David Bowie, Lou Reed, and Alanis Morissette, as well as luminaries such as Coldplay, HAIM, Beck, Foo Fighters, Vampire Weekend, Sia, The Killers, Bjork, Tiesto, Destiny’s Child, Depeche Mode, RZA, Weezer, Bomba Estereo, LeAnn Rimes, Maggie Rogers, and virtually everyone in between.

Ever forward-facing and driven by her keen interest in pushing technical boundaries, Lazar has welcomed the world of surround and immersive audio and its evolving formats. Highlights from her immersive credits include The Rolling Stones’ Goats Head Soup, the 50th Anniversary releases of The Beatles’ legendary albums, Abbey Road, Let It Be, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and Revolver, as well as Paul McCartney's incredible album trilogy, McCartney I, II and III.

Catherine Marks, MPG Director said: "Emily Lazar embodies the essence of excellence and innovation in music production. Her tireless dedication to equality in production through founding We Are Moving The Needle (a platform that empowers women, non-binary & trans producers and engineers) and her own craft has left an indelible mark on the industry. On behalf of all at MPG, congratulations to Emily on receiving the Inspiration Award at the MPG Awards 2024 – a well-deserved recognition of your unparalleled talent and enduring impact."

Emily Lazar said: “There is nothing more gratifying than being recognized by one’s peers. I owe my deep gratitude to the remarkable artists I've collaborated with, whose talent and trust have propelled me forward, and to the friends and colleagues whose guidance has been invaluable in navigating this industry. I am truly grateful to everyone at the MPG for this acknowledgment. Receiving this award is a profound honour for me.”

This announcement comes ahead of the annual awards ceremony on 25th April at new venue, The Troxy, London E1 0HX. The awards will be hosted by Apple Music Presenter, Nada.
