Today, Tottenham-hailing riser NIPPA returns with his first single of the year ‘Around The World’, out now via Spacebound. It lands just weeks after his monumental nomination for Best Newcomer at the 2024 MOBO Awards.
Produced by long-term collaborator Show N Prove, ‘Around The World’ is a sleek and polished offering that immediately sets tone for an exciting year ahead. It’s further proof of Nippa’s commitment to pioneering a new sound, one which is not easily defined but undeniably authentic. Fuelled with an irresistible hook that leaves listeners wanting more, Nippa’s seamless vocals flow effortlessly over nostalgic-yet-futuristic production; taking you back to the time of R&B’s golden era, yet still feels refreshingly new.
It’s been an exciting last twelve months for Nippa. In addition to successive singles ‘Reverse’ and ‘Ocean Drive’, 2023 saw him reach entirely new heights. He had an exciting summer across the festival circuit, gracing the stage at Stormzy’s This Is What We Mean Day and Reading & Leeds Festival. He collaborated with BRIT Award-designer Slawn, received co-signs from the likes of Bryson Tiller, Larry June, Dave, AJ Tracey, and was the face of premium menswear label Arte Antwerp’s Autumn/Winter 2023 collection. All proof of a flourishing trajectory.
His 2022 EP “Not A Statistic” immediately earned him a stamp of approval worldwide and was a true introduction to an innovative, distinctive sound that he is determined on spearheading - both R&B and rap-adjacent in lyrical content, building a tight-knit community across both genres. It was no surprise then that he captured the attention of award-winning US rapper Jack Harlow, who handpicked Nippa to support him on his sold-out European tour.
Nippa is quickly becoming an exciting prospect for the UK music scene and has gone from strength to strength since his breakout single “Situation” in 2021. Growing up on a musical diet of R&B, Motown and Reggae paired with a banded-together community in his hometown in Tottenham, formed the basis of his later musical identity. Capturing the intricacies and complexities of being a young Black man in London chasing his dream, the success he’s enjoyed thus far is a simple combination of the right people, places, and a deep love of music.
New music is on this horizon, expect a triumphant 2024 for Nippa.
