29 December 2023
London-based singer-songwriter RHODES has released ‘All I’ve Ever Known’, a gorgeous and honest song about coping with the trauma we carry and how this can affect those we love. You can listen to the new song here and find the official lyric video here. ‘All I’ve Ever Known’ highlights RHODES’ charming vocals and excellent songwriting ability, showing listeners what they can expect from upcoming album (un-finished), due to be released on 1st March 2024.
Commenting on the new song, RHODES says “When I wrote this song I was thinking deeply and reflecting a lot on childhood and how, as we grow, not only do we carry our own trauma, but we also carry generational trauma which can have a profound effect on how we love and care for people. The words ‘All I’ve Ever Known’ play into the idea that, for me, as much as grass is green and snow is cold, love doesn’t last and the people you care about the most will leave. As I was collaborating on this song with my writing partners I realised we all are deeply effected and at times traumatised by the way we experience life as kids and young adults and ultimately, as daunting and painful as it can be, it’s up to us to do the work and try to make sure we don’t put our own past traumas and insecurities upon the people around us.”
‘All I’ve Ever Known’ is the fifth song to be shared from (un-finished), following previously released tracks 'Happy', 'Sunlight', 'How I Love You', and 'Toothpaste'. The release of the album will be swiftly followed by a special solo acoustic tour across the UK and Europe, starting in Cologne on 8th March 2024 and concluding at London’s stunning Hoxton Hall on 21st March 2024. .
RHODES kicked off 2023 with the release of his sophomore album Friends Like These via Nettwerk. Recorded during lockdown with producers Rich Cooper and Ash Workman (Christine and the Queens, Metronomy), Friends Like These is a stunning collection of personal tracks, sharing tales of love, loss, friendship, and hope, told through RHODES’ charming vocals and stunning lyrics. Friends Like These marked RHODES’ first album release since his 2015 acclaimed debut Wishes (via Sony Music), which included hit single ‘Let It All Go’, a duet with Birdy that has amassed over 227 million Spotify streams. In April, RHODES’ released EP The Pool Sessions, a special selection of tracks from Friends Like These performed live at The Pool Studios in London.
