An exceptionally rare item, Freddie Mercury’s personal Martin D-18 Guitar is up for auction nwo at gottahaverockandroll.com

The guitar was given by Freddie to his manager, friend and lover Paul Prenter.

Accompanied with a signed letter of provenance from Paul Prenter stating that "He [Freddie Mercury] had it at home and played it but said that I should have it". The letter also mentions the serial number of the guitar, which also matches the guitar (#393896). Note that the letter also has handwritten text by the person who bought the guitar from Paul Prenter, so it's a two-in-one letter of provenance.

This is an extremely rare item. Not many guitars owned and/or played by Freddie Mercury have ever been offered for sale. Notably, Sotheby's recently sold Freddie Mercury's Martin D-35 guitar for $175,000.

This beast of a guitar is up for auction until December 15th here.
