Dennis makes the ‘Baile’ shake in "Monstrão", his newest single with fellow Brazilian superstar Anitta, out now via Sony Music Entertainment Brasil/5020 Records. The single’s accompanying video, which was inspired by 8-Bit Video Games, is also out. Dennis is a producer, composer, DJ, and one of the biggest phenomena of ‘Funk carioca’, the genre in which the song is rooted upon.

“Monstrão”, which Dennis produced and Anitta added her vocals, marks a successful collaboration by two of the biggest artists of Brazilian music. Initially, Dennis showed the singer 12 musical productions that were created with her vocals in his mind, and of these, three were recorded, including “Monstrão”. In addition to this single, Dennis has already revealed that the next release with Anitta will be out in December. There will also be a third song, with no release date yet.

“It has a 90s feel, you know that Mario monster? We brought it in the video as a reference, and we made a joke with it all”, says Dennis about “Monstrão”. “The song also has references from nowadays, but with the famous 'tamborzão' (a standardized funk rhythm) from the 2000s. And Anitta couldn't help but participate too, she's a singer that I admire so much and who made the song even more brilliant”, he adds.

“I loved when Dennis showed me 'Monstrão', I said 'man, what an amazing song!' One day, I recorded it with him in his studio, then I recorded it at my house again and it was always a joy, an uplifting song!”, comments Anitta about the track. “There’s an instrumental part in the middle of the song that’s very old-school funk, and it was really fun to be part of the video.” adds the artist.

Recorded at the famous Rio de Janeiro music venue Fundição Progresso and at the nearby Arco da Lapa, the music video for “Monstrão' was directed by Nuno Gomes and inspired by the world of retro, 8-bit video games. The music video premiered on Dennis’ YouTube channel, earlier today.

In the video, Dennis represents a hero who faces different enemies and obstacles. Anitta is the second player, a princess who fights alongside Dennis to reach the end of the game and then rescue a mysterious character.

“We decided to do something different for the ‘Monstrão’ video so that the visual identity would be really different from our latest work. So, the people who work with me creatively came up with the idea of doing something like a game and I liked it very much, then sent it to Anitta and she liked it too, and we just improved it afterwards”, adds Dennis.

Given how people identify with music and culture, the name ‘Monstrão’ appears as a reference to the Brazilian slang "What's up, 'monstrão'? All good?” often used by younger generations.

The track marks the final stretch of a glorious year for multi-artist Dennis, who achieved astronomical accomplishments with the single “Tá OK”, released in May with Kevin O Chris. Amassing more than 200 Million streams, the track remained at the top of Spotify Brazil chart for more than a month and was remixed with vocals from two international stars, Maluma and Karol G.

Over a 30-year career dedicated to Brazilian funk, Dennis created a veritable arsenal of hits, such as “Deixa de Onda”, “Isso que é Vida” and “Modo Avião”, always with multifaceted productions that established him as one of the most renowned artists of the current scenario. The musician has more than 4.41 Million subscribers and 1.44 Billion overall views on YouTube. On Instagram he has more than 4.4 million followers, and on Spotify the artist has 15 Million monthly listeners.
