Dublin’s Akrobat are an art-rock proposition like no other. Off the back of their sprawling 2022 debut LP, Jammed Space Movement, the six-piece have revealed another side to their masterfully shapeshifting sound.

Enter ‘Zesty Terrestry’, engineered, mixed and mastered by Rian Trench in The Meadow Studios. Written by Akrobat main man and songwriter Shane Regan it is a widescreen, masterfully slow-burning effort marrying soft-focus electronica and art-rock. This wonderfully unraveling 3-track EP pulsates with electro rhythms,
inspired by avant-garde and experimental music, and showcases Akrobat’s agility at fusing diverse genres and sounds seamlessly, whilst weaving a musical web where the conventional meets the unconventional.

Self-assured and centre-stage is Akrobat’s new lead vocalist Selen Korkutan,
Much like songwriter Regan—who performs guitar and backing vocals on the EP—the Turkish singer draws from a jazz background. Deftly moving between breathy and full-bodied, gossamer and emphatic, her words land with a remarkable subtlety across the EP’s sublime three tracks.

It’s a perfect opportunity to get on board with a band entering thrilling new territory.

Accompanying the EP are videos for the singles ‘Air Station 2.0’ and ‘Are You Listening’ by Irish photographer & filmmaker Ray Beggan. Having previously worked with the band on the visuals for Jammed Space Movement singles ‘Eskimo’ and ‘Zamalour,’ Beggan's accompaniment drives home a sublime effort.
