British band Archive are to release their soundtrack to new French film Voleuses (Thieves), known as Wingwomen, in the UK. The soundtrack is to be released on October 27th, with the film arriving at Netflix on November 1st.

Wingwomen is directed by and starring Mélanie Laurent alongside Adèle Exarchopoulos, Manon Bresch, Felix Moati, Philippe Katerine, and Isabelle Adjani in the role of ‘Marraine’. It follows Carole (Mélanie Laurent) and Alex (Adèle Exarchopoulos), the two best friends - and pair of highly skilled thieves - working for the fearsome "Godmother". Hoping to free themselves from her stronghold, the two women must accept one final mission: steal a priceless painting, Martial Raysse’s La Grande Odalisque. To do so, they enlist the help of Sam (Manon Bresch), a former race car driver who is no stranger to danger herself. But what should have been a routine heist turns out to be their most perilous adventure yet.

Music from the film, by the band Archive, is a captivating fusion of electronic, avant-garde, post-rock, and progressive rock. This London-based musical group has skillfully incorporated a plethora of musical elements to create an immersive auditory panorama. The music mirrors the narrative of Carole and Alex, two skilled thieves fighting for freedom.

Formed in 1994 as a trip hop group, classic debut album ‘Londinium’ was released in 1996. Led by Darius Keeler and Danny Griffiths they developed their sound with psychedelia, avant garde and prog and produced their first soundtrack for French film ‘Michael Vaillant’ in 2003. They are currently on an extensive European tour in support of latest album ‘Call To Arms & Angels’ and play EartH in London on November 26th (Tickets)

Released on October 13th, ‘Time On My Hands’, a beautiful new track that provides a breathing space on the album - a delicate and atmospheric song that swells with layers of sound and instrumentation as it builds to its crescendo.

Archive frontman Darius Keeler said: “‘Voleuses’ is the second major film soundtrack we’ve done in our career, in some ways I’m surprised we haven’t done more given how cinematic the band’s music is. We get asked, but they have to come along at the right time, and they absolutely have to feel right as a project. ‘Voleuses' fitted the bill on both counts, we had the time and space creatively to take it on after our 'Call To Arms & Angels' tour was pushed back a year, and learning that Melanie Laurent was a fan of Archive just served to seal the deal.

Normally a film soundtrack pushes you outside of your creative zone, but knowing Melanie wanted us involved because she was a fan of the band’s music enabled us to approach the soundtrack almost like an album, and I definitely think it stands up, judged as an Archive album away from the film. Hopefully fans of the band will agree and hopefully they’ll love the film too!”
