Echobelly to release new LP
12 September 2023
Echobelly have signed to UK and US based label Stone Rolla Records. The band are set to go into RAK studios in October to record songs for a brand new LP, due early next year. The album will be mastered at Air Studios and produced by London based Danton Supple (Coldplay, Pet Shop Boys, U2, Patti Smith, Kylie Minogue, Soulsavers).
Sonya Madan and Glenn Johansson made the announcement at an intimate venue in Fitzrovia, central London. They have been demoing 12/15 new songs and are now ready to record them with a full band. Sonya and Glenn are excited about the new LP.
“We feel that these are some of the most personal songs we have ever written, they really mean something to us,” says Sonya.
The new songs are a heady mixture of classic Britpop with West Coast psychedelia and eastern influences, together with Sonya’s distinctive vocals and Glenn’s driving guitar.
Stone Rolla Records are based in London and Los Angeles. They have a strong publishing arm; handling bands such as current indie favourites Coach Party, Bleach Lab and Swim School. Stone Rolla are also focused on nurturing new and emerging talent. They have just signed hotly-tipped 21 year old songwriter Alex Hawkins, who is due to release his debut LP early next year.
At a warm up show in August 2023 (their first for over a year) at Weyfest, Echobelly showed why they are still one of the best live bands around. They have a host of festival dates booked for 2024, including LeeStock Festival in Suffolk (May 25/26)
Tracy Cunliffe from Stone Rolla says: “We are really excited to be working with an iconic band like Echobelly. The new songs will surprise a lot of people, but they won’t be surprised by the classic melodies and anthemic feel. It’s powerful stuff.”
