KEIR announces release of Voices In The Night single on June 30, 2023 and long-awaited, self-titled debut album on 25 August 2023 – both via Vertigo/Universal.
The singularly unique pop artist, Keir – one of the main reasons for owning a listening device in the first place – releases his extraordinarily-beautiful Voices In The Night song via Vertigo/Universal on June 30, 2023. Voices In The Night – “a powerful, yearning ballad” according to Louder Than War, and “the Johnny Mathis one” according to the rest of us – is a song about not forgetting, or, more pertinently perhaps, about sitting by the window and listening to the darkness, knowing that for a moment you had found someone you could share everything with. “I love the theatre of the song,” says Keir, “and how it feels as though you are speaking to a cloud, something which will never respond, but still, you keep on speaking through the night in the hope memories can never really fade.”
Keir premiered the song recently on his 45-minute ProSieben Music Special – a performance slot usually reserved for artists such as Arctic Monkeys and Metallica – which was aired at 11pm on 6th June. Altogether now: “There are voices in the night/But I only think of yours.”
Voices In The Night utilizes a common theme running through much of Ker’s material – mental health. For four years, Keir acted as a support worker at Dimensions in Bath, working with people who have autism and severe learning difficulties. For the record, he absolutely loved it, feeling “a deep connection to the people we supported and the darkness they felt.” Keir thinks this is because struggles with mental health run in his family. “A family member was sectioned when she was younger,” says Keir now, “and there’s something about dark inner turmoil I’ve always found an affinity with. My intentions are not to glamourise darkness, but to shine a light towards it. Music is my way of connecting the dots I suppose.”
Keir’s hugely-anticipated, self-titled debut album will be released on Vertigo/Universal on August 25th 2023. Keir will also be appearing live on the following dates:
