Synth pop pioneers Soft Cell follow their acclaimed top 10 album ‘*Happiness Not Included’ with the announcement of a new live album and film, ‘Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret...And Other Stories: Live’. Released on double and quadruple vinyl, double CD, DVD and BluRay on the 12th May via LiveHereNow, the show was filmed in November 2021 at one of Soft Cell’s two sellout concerts at London’s Hammersmith Apollo celebrating the 40th anniversary of ‘Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret’. As well as the seminal 1981 debut album performed in full for the very first time, the collection also includes the band’s chart hits alongside tracks from across Soft Cell’s career that have never been performed before live, plus songs from the electronic duo's current album.
Joining Soft Cell, aka legendary frontman Marc Almond and producer / instrumentalist Dave Ball, the lavish two- and-a-half hour show also features saxophonist Gary Barnacle, four backing singers, and is performed in two acts. With dramatic lighting and a video wall depicting the faded glamour of Soho street life, the tour attracted rave reviews from titles such as CLASH and Louder Than War to The Telegraph and Yorkshire Post. As well as from fellow 80s electronic pop icons, the Pet Shop Boys. Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe were so impressed by the show that they ending up re-recording one of Soft Cell’s new songs as a duet, ‘Purple Zone’, which turned into a joint single release, topping both the Official Charts download and physical sales charts in May 2022.
