My Family Business, the brainchild musical project of singer-songwriter Pank Bagga, has released a new single titled "The Candle Lights". The song is out now on all streaming platforms.

Bagga, who was born in New Delhi and emigrated to Canada as a baby, describes "The Candle Lights" as "hooky, synth-driven, experimental, and melancholic with a punk sensibility and a retro sound".

Bagga reveals that the song has been sitting unfinished for many years until he finally got around to completing the vocals during the lockdown. "I liked the 'calm before the storm’ analogy when developing the song. That feeling very much rang true for me growing up. There was a lot of conflict in my house - sometimes the loudest fights came right after the calm. I visualized writing this song about domestic violence," says Bagga.

My Family Business's musical influences include 80s new wave, 90s Brit pop, and shoe-gaze. Bagga is particularly taken by some of the darker retro acts like The Cure, Joy Division/New Order, The Jesus and Marychain, and The Pixies.

Bagga's musical journey began with his obsession with Michael Jackson and Prince as a young boy. Since then, Bagga has toured extensively across North America with previous projects, and My Family Business has already started gaining attention in the Canadian music scene.

"The Candle Lights" is part of My Family Business's current EP, with two more singles due over the coming months.
"The Candle Lights" is a testament to Bagga's songwriting talent and musicianship, and it is a must-listen for fans of alternative rock and pop music. Stream the song now on Spotify and follow My Family Business on Instagram to stay updated on upcoming releases and live performances.
