The Luka State share the music video for their recently-released, high-powered single “Matter of Fact,” taken from their forthcoming album More Than This – out March 10, 2023 via Thirty Tigers. As we’ve heard on the recent singles “More Than This,” “Stick Around,” "Bring Us Down" and "Oxygen Thief," ‘Matter of Fact’ sees The Luka State hitting the sweet spot that coexists between its anthemic hook, gnarly wall-of-sound guitars, and propulsive, driving energy - a mix that was realised with the help of the persistence and expertise of the Grammy Award-winning producer Adrian Bushby (Foo Fighters, Muse, U2). In contrast to the social issues and single-minded defiance explored in The Luka State’s recent releases, ‘Matter of Fact’ sees Conrad Ellis confront his own weaknesses and vulnerabilities in relationships - and his searing delivery indicates that his lyrics come straight from the heart. The band’s DIY ethic is further highlighted by the video being shot in drummer Jakes’s house.

Conrad Ellis explains, “Sometimes when singing these kinds of songs in the studio I get into character to really find the emotion of the song. This video was so fun as I was able to bring that character to life. I always find that alongside a fantastic actor like Tilly Sutcliffe makes things a little bit easier! I hope people really enjoy the video as much as we did making it.”

The video’s director, Jim de Whalley adds, “I was inspired by the way “Matter Of Fact” depicts love in an almost claustrophobic manner. The video depicts one such evening when everything breaks down and the male protagonist is ruminating on how they got there and what they can do to turn things around.”

Still located in their small Cheshire hometown of Winsford, the band - completed by Sam Bell (bass, vocals), Lewis Pusey(guitar) and Jake Barnabas (drums) - share a brotherhood that triumphs over the struggles, grinding and endless touring that comes with the life of a rising band. That attitude is rooted in the life-long friendship between Conrad and Sam. With every single release they have picked up more support with coverage including Kerrang!, NME, Sunday Times Culture, The Line of Best Fit, Daily Star, along with airplay from BBC Music Introducing, Absolute Radio and Soccer AM. They further landed on over 38 editorial playlists on Spotify alone for the album title track ‘More Than This’.

Highlights of The Luka State’s touring in 2022 including playing at Louder Than Life during their debut North American tour, as well as receiving a rapturous reception when they filled the tent at 2000trees.
