Here I Am is the second brilliant cut from Greenhouse out front of the imminent release of their debut album.
Here I am is a vibed up anthem for the LGBTQI+ community and anyone else whos ever been marginalised for simply being themselves.... Here I am celebrates a confidence to acknowledge there are disparate identities. Despite the prejudices and discriminations that have been dealt all of us, we are encouraged and even challenged through the song’s lyric, to state a simple unchangeable truth, Here I Am! Here we are! Accepting this truth as universal, the song espouses inclusion, where all of us can just BE.
Greenhouse throw this all down with the post punk sensibility of The Chameleons, stacked on top of a shoe-gazey dream of distortion reminiscent of Ride, and while stealing from The House or Love’s library of sounds, they’ve rev’d it all up into a powerful melodic bliss, creating their own heavenly, epic indie guitar anthem of identity and inclusion. They’ve boldly shouted, “here it is!” Here I Am!
There is a welcome whiff of a '90s aesthetic here but this track is rockin it in the NOW.
