Up-and-coming singer/songwriter and producer, Michael Aldag has today released his debut EP, SOCIALIZING via 3Beat records. The stunning 6 track collection features new single ‘POLAROID’ which has a lyric video you can watch here

‘POLAROID’ is an introspective, yet tongue-in-cheek, look at young love and Gen Z’s love of the pop-culture of the past. Driven by melodic guitar riffing, a huge, 80’s synth hook and Michael’s distinctive, keening vocals it’s a brilliant high energy up which brings to mind everything from the 1975 to Charlie XCX.

“’POLAROID’ is about me being rejected by a girl and then spiraling into a crisis of self-worth which results in me contemplating corduroy trousers.” Michael explains.” I didn’t contemplate them for long thank god.”

Michael has had a very successful year since signing to UK based record label 3 Beat in 2021. His anthemic pop songs with deeply relatable lyrics have caught the attention of BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders who made Michael’s single ‘BLEAK’ his tune of the week and commented "Michael Aldag is as real as they get. His words, at the moment, are my bible. In a world full of deception, Michael Aldag stands tall"

He’s also been on the cover of Notion Magazine and landed features on Line of Best Fit and The Sunday Times, who featured Michael in the prestigious ‘Breaking Artist’ section [“pay close attention to the lyrics, which mix the bruised and the brutal, with shattering results”].

Michael prides himself as an artist who speaks heavily to the Gen Z audience, he says “My music’s for anybody who feels slightly-to-constantly overwhelmed and unsure of who they are, flailing around in this massive ridiculous world.” His music is sometimes conveyed within his online personality on the world’s largest social media platform TikTok, where he currently has over 700k followers and counting. “I’m definitely not a TikToker or an influencer” Michael says, “It’s a useful platform and my songs have got some humour in them as well so the two things are not worlds apart.”

‘SOCIALIZING’ acts as Michael’s diary by conveying the emotional milestones during his young life with each song. Talking about the EP Michael says “SOCIALIZING is basically a diary entry set to the same 6 chords for the majority of the time. It covers: me being drunk, me being stressed, me being suicidal, me being rejected and me being okay. It really has it all!”

The young artist shows no sign of slowing down, he recently supported two of the UK’s biggest musical acts Bastille, George Ezra as well as up-and-coming sensation Caity Baser and has recently announced rescheduled dates for his headline tour in November, most of which is now sold out!
