Izza is a singer-songwriter, artist, and producer from Los Angeles who has been passionate about music from a young age. Her parents also love music and encouraged her to start playing instruments and attending concerts at the Hollywood Bowl and Staples Center. She also watched artist documentaries on MTV and VH1 Top 20 Countdown as a child, giving her more exposure to the industry.
While in elementary school, the musically inclined
Izza
would play piano and guitar and sing in a rock band. She discovered songwriting while in 5th grade and fell in love with it.
Izza shared that she didn’t have anyone to express her feelings, thoughts, and struggles to, so songwriting became a creative outlet for her. Discovering how she could say whatever she wanted without any judgment,
Izza decided to continue songwriting.
Izza’s first song she wrote was called “Stranger.” It was about a friend who started distancing herself from her, and Izza couldn’t recognize who she was anymore. The friend was almost like a stranger. While the singer didn’t record the song at the time as she was just eleven and didn’t know how to, she sang it all the time.
Although Izza has been performing from a young age, the first performance that made her fall in love with performing was covering “Just Dance” by Lady Gaga and “Seven Nation Army” by the White Stripes in her school rock band. She professed, “I was only twelve, and this was the greatest feeling I had ever experienced, and I knew I wanted to perform for the rest of my life.”
The up-and-coming pop star wants to show people that you can make fun and upbeat pop music with meaning. “My empowering lyrics and trap pop sound aims to encourage self-love, normalize vulnerability, and motivate listeners to speak up and follow their dreams. I also want to inspire other women to be in music because it is a male-dominated industry,” she added.
Izza’s biggest career highlight was playing at 320 Festival alongside artists like Chris Martin of Coldplay, Elohim, and Social House. She doubles as a mental health advocate and reveals that performing at this festival was very special to her.
Izza has released more than ten electrifying hits since she took up music professionally two years ago. A few weeks ago, the artist mentioned that she is set to release another banger on 26 October. “I wrote a song about becoming a pop star and paid homage to all of my favorite ones, including Ciara, Christina Aguilera, and Whitney Houston,” Izza disclosed.
The artist faced a few challenges while getting started in the music industry. She had played tennis her whole life and didn’t have anyone that knew music, so she had to push herself to figure out how to break into it. She overcame this by studying music in college, where she learned self-development as an artist and how the entire industry operates.
According to Izza, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. “Don’t let anyone discourage you from following your dreams. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been since making music full-time, so I hope people can find what they love and pursue it,” Izza asserts.
While the LA-based singer-songwriter’s objectives are to headline Coachella, win Grammys, and inspire people to follow their dreams, she hopes to be signed to a label and tour the world soon.
