Bentez releases new single 'Played' through Visionbolt Records

Smooth, seductive, yet gentle with an edge, “Played” by Bentez will captivate your senses and heart in an instant. Pop oriented, and perfectly constructed, this song describes a relationship that was more of a fling and that the singer was misled. He played with her mind, but her feelings are still real. Even if he didn’t fall in love, we promise you will fall in love with Bentez’s incredible voice and descriptive lyrics.
Bentez shared some insight with us ahead of this release.:
“My song “Played” is almost like a conversation that I didn’t get the chance to have with one person in particular. The single portrays what being naive and getting involved in a delusional relationship feels like. “Played” is more about someone playing with your thoughts than feelings. The actual story behind “Played” is real, although there are a lot of exaggerated phrases. I’ve noticed that what works best for me in the matter of writing lyrics is to rely on history/past events or relationships, but also make them more interesting and dramatic. I hope people can relate to the words and the story behind “Played.” I’m sure there are a lot of mentally toxic relationships out there and I hope when people listen to this song it would be a reminder that they’re better off without them.
I can share a little about the writing process as well. In the beginning, my producer (Borislav Tonev) and I had very different points of view about the lyrics. He wanted me to write about the intimate aspect of a relationship, but I didn’t want the song to be about love at all. My goal was to center the lyrics around mental health and the struggles surrounding it. It wasn’t the smoothest process, and it took some time to combine the two ideas together, but it is personally my favorite musical project so far.”
ABOUT BENTEZ Bentez (aka Yana Sabanova) is a 19 year old up-and-coming Artist and songwriter from Bulgaria. Her passion for music started at a young age, and for over seven years Bentez has been preparing for the big stage. Bentez is influenced by Jessie Murph, Kali Uchis, Tate McRae and Summer Walker. Her previous singles, which are in her native language (Bulgarian), received major radio and TV airplay within her country. Bentez was also the youngest contestant on The Voice of Bulgaria Season 4 when she was 14 years old. Not covering the age requirement, she placed third at the finals in the entire competition. Later, Bentez was invited to sing in the 'Coca Cola The Voice Happy Energy Tour' in 2017 in a lot of cities throughout Bulgaria after performing a duet with one of the most famous singers and producers in her country, Vlaimir Ampov - Grafa. Now Bentez has begun writing in English in order to reach a global market. Her lyrics are both authentic and honest, and she puts raw emotion into her vocals. Bentez is bold and never scared to get out of her comfort zone.
