The UK’s BEST POP FESTIVAL, Mighty Hoopla, returned for it’s 5th shindig at South London’s Brockwell Park today with a 200 fierce-strong line-up of artists - new and nostalgic. 25,000 festival goers enjoyed the ultimate spectacular of pop, alternative, queer culture at it’s best. Amongst the 7 stages of live music, the grounds were laced with fabulous NOT A PHASE parades, rainbow uniforms, and the biggest smiles.

The day opened to psych-rock rapper Lava La Rue who brought her celebratory versatility to the festival, South London local, singer songwriter, RAYE romanticised the crowd with her sultry hit singles such as ‘Call on me” and ‘BED’, then, longtime Mighty Hoopla fan herself, Becky Hill, wowed fans with huge no.1 hits such as ‘Gecko (Overdrive)’ and ‘Afterglow’ and announced that this was this first time she was “doing Mighty Hoopla as a queer woman.”

On the other side of the party at the House of Love tent Betty Boo was ‘Doin the Do’, and the UK’s only official Southern Belle-end Taylor Trash drawl’d the fans into their fabulousness. Elsewhere, The Naked Boys collective created a literary salon in which naked men read aloud, YouTube sensation Charity Shop Sue’s DJ set brought vintage classics, Sink The Pink brought extra party to the already party, and stars of Ru Paul’s Drag Race - the United Kingdolls brought the ‘Hun’.

Atomic Kitten and S Club Party threw it back to the noughties - unchallenged dance routines and all, Alexandra Burke ‘Let It Go on the high notes, Sister Sledge featuring THE Kathy Sledge brought the family together on the main stage… and to end a triumphant celebration, scouse-icon Cheryl delivers a stunning performance full of energy, a selection of her best hits with closing tune 'Fight For This Love' joined by Nicola Roberts from Girls Aloud.
