BET and BET International today announced British singer-songwriter, Tiana Major9, as the second-ever BET Amplified Global artist.
Fresh off of her dynamic medley performance of hit songs Same Space and Think About You during the 2020 BET Soul Train Awards Pre-Show: Soul-Coming, and the global premiere of her Same Space? music video on BET, the network is set to highlight Tiana Major9’s work in a multitude of ways including programming across BET’s platform of over 90 million households around the world.
Amplified artists are selected based on criteria including their unique sound, transcontinental appeal, and projected impact on the music industry and entertainment industry at-large.
Tiana Major9 roots her bold blend of future-facing R&B, enduring soul, and hip-hop attitude in boundless jazz eloquence twisted up with saucy East London inflection and a touch of Jamaican spirit. Named to BBC Radio 1XTRA’s Hot for 2019 list shortly following the release of her debut project Rehearsal @ NINE, Tiana Major9 has been acclaimed by Flaunt, Vice, Wonderland Magazine, Billboard, and Complex.
The Grammy-nominated, UK-born singer and songwriter hones a classic style through a contemporary prism on her debut for Motown Records. Major 9 chords tend to be beautiful and uplifting, so I preserve my connection to jazz with the name she said, I’m trying to make something I genuinely feel is missing. So, I’ll write about love in a very personal way. I also make sure to use my accent when I’m singing, and I employ slang relevant to London. That’s how I put my own spin on it.
Tiana Major9 is the second global BET Amplified artist, joining ranks of Sampa the Great, BET Amplified International artists Bosh and Omah Lay, and BET Amplified artists Pink Sweat$, Masego, Snoh Aalegra, Rema, Lonr., Chika, Coi Leray, DaniLeigh, THEY. and Flo Milli.
