Today on his BBC Radio 6 Music show (4pm-7pm), Steve Lamacq announced the return of 6 Music's legendary annual #TShirtDay, which this year will take place on Friday 20th November.

From 7am-7pm on Friday 20th November, 6 Music presenters pledge to play ‘what you wear’. Listeners, whether they’re at home or continuing to travel to their place of work, are invited to dig out their favourite band t-shirt - be it IDLES, Blondie, MF Doom, The Cure or Bros and let the world know who they’re wearing by sharing a photo on social media using the hashtag #TShirtDay. 6 Music presenters will then play requests from listeners’ chests throughout the day on air.

Also on the day, Steve Lamacq will host a special Friday Free For All, in which a selection of 6 Music listeners will be invited to join us on a Zoom call to celebrate the artists they have chosen to wear for T-Shirt Day.

Steve Lamacq says: “2020 has been a year like no other, but rarely have we needed a sense of community more than we do now… so for this 13th instalment of T-Shirt Day we cannot wait to see which artists you've chosen to support and to have the chance to play some of their music on air. We're hoping it'll be a great opportunity to share some stories and relive some memories of easier times."

Since its inception in a West End boozer back in 2008, 6 Music’s annual T-Shirt Day has grown and grown. Famous names to celebrate T-Shirt Day in the past include Kate Moss, The Specials, Simon Pegg, Florence and the Machine and Jodie Whittaker.
