‘Dancing Alone’ is the second acoustic-electronic hybrid from Chillhum’s forthcoming EP.

Following Chillhum’s first single ‘Waste My Time’, as heard via Acid Stag and CloudKid, the Los Angeles-based songwriter, producer and musician is back with another acoustic-electronic hybrid in the shape of ‘Dancing Alone’. Inspired by the distorted sounds of the drums used by artists like Flume or Couro, Chillhum spent time crafting those ear catching samples we heard in ‘Dancing Alone’ before moving onto the guitar part, which is always a consistent hallmark of this artist’s sound.

Although the song is very much about being on your own, it’s a celebration rather than a commiseration. ‘Dancing Alone’ is all about the positive and uplifting energy that Chillhum promises to deliver right through this next EP.

“‘Dancing (alone)’ is another one of my personal favorite tracks. I think the initial production/workflow of this song was to this day one of the fastest I have ever had. This Idea felt so perfect to me from the moment I had the drum beat programmed in and it truly was one of those projects that felt like it was writing itself. I had been super inspired by the distorted/alternative sound of the drums used by artists like Flume or Couros, and so I spent a lot of time finding the perfect samples to set the right tone for the song. I then focused on guitar and the main riff came super quickly. The combination of the simple guitar riff and heavy drums immediately made me smile and reminded me of some of my more original sources of inspiration like Slightly Stoopid and Sublime. I really tried to channel that high energy good vibe feeling into the vocals/writing and I was stoked with the result.” - Chillhum

Artist Biography:
22-year-old producer, songwriter and musician Ethan Bedell, known under the stage name Chillhum, brings to the table an unmistakably unique and genre-bending style that is clearly a sound crafted by him. Although he is a life long guitar player, songwriter, and musician, he didn’t begin producing his own music until January 2018. This endeavour clicked immediately and he couldn’t focus on anything else, so he shortly left college and relocated to Los Angeles where he studied production at the acclaimed music school Icon Collective. It was during this time that he took on the name Chillhum and put his focus into making music that was a blend of all the styles he loves, and something that he could really feel connected to.

Recently Chillhum is coming off a series of single releases that have been well received by indie, electronic, and alternative fans alike. His latest single “I’m Slippin’” was premiered by the renowned underground music outlet Run The Trap, reached #1 on HypeMachine popular charts, and was even added to the Apple Music editorial playlist ‘Unwind’ alongside artists like Petit Biscuit, FINNEAS, and Dominic Fike. It is clear that this rising artist is not slowing down anytime soon, and with his first label release coming as an original five-track EP this year he is certainly one to keep your eye on.

2019 was his breakout year in which he released Till She’s Back, a three-track long EP which represents the foundations of Chillum’s musical career. Fast forward to present day and the young musician is now ready to release his debut EP under SUR:KIT records. The project will solidify Chillhum’s unique, trademark sound.
