Jamie Scott has released the third single in the lead up to his highly anticipated new album. ‘This Time Lucky’ is a co-write with ‘Skinny Love’ songstress Birdy, and is an example of what can be achieved when two of the UK’s finest songwriters come together to collaborate. Beautifully constructed, it’s a love song full of regret and loneliness, yet with an upbeat feel that makes you want to tap along. Scott has often spoken about his childhood influences, inspired by the likes of Simon & Garfunkel and Bob Dylan, and you can hear these clearly in ‘This Time Lucky’.
“I always seem to be able to write better about the idea of loss rather than love. I think the feeling of ‘want’ is better than ‘have’ when writing songs”.
Jamie has released a number of singles in the lead up to the album, including ‘Friendly Fire’ which debuted on BBC Radio Two earlier this month, and ‘Emily’ which was added to Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist. The releases have already had support from Headliner Magazine, who recorded a 45-minute exclusive podcast with Jamie for their Spotify and Apple Music radio show, as well as inclusion on Pop Justice’s New Music playlist. The album, ‘How Still The River’ is out on 7th August, and is available for pre-order now.
