Every week, Music News and Liberty Music look at the best new releases from emerging and self-releasing artists.

MACKandgold – ‘Take Me In’

Following on from a string of singles that look to blur the lines between jazz/dance moods and an indie/alternative aesthetic, MACKandgold now returns with her latest upbeat offering ‘Take Me In’. Dedicated to her late father, who sadly passed away in 2018, this new offering channels the bouncing flow of Sia to deliver a fun and fresh alt-pop gem.

FAVELA – ‘Homingbird’

As an artist who has already garnered millions of streams around the world, as well as received regular airplay on BBC Radio 1, FAVELA has made a name for himself through his smooth yet lofty compositions as he now returns with ‘Homingbird’. Taking cues from the eerie and ethereal sounds of How To Dress Well and James Blake, his newest release is a sombre yet progressive single that not only shows off his stunning voice, but his ability to create profound and diverse soundscapes.

Apollo Bebop – ‘The Recipe’

As an act that name John Coltrane and A Tribe Called Quest as some of their main influences, you can already expect Apollo Bebop to be a genre-bending affair, and this is exactly what we get on ‘The Recipe’. Taking the bold and explosive jazz elements of their sound and mixing it with their ferocious hip-hop flow makes this new release one of their most impactful and emotive of their catalogue to date.

Jay Q The Legend – ‘It Could Be You’

With a string of highly praised singles under his belt, which have so far landed him top spots on the Billboard Reggae Digital Song Chart and Reggae iTunes Chart, vocalist and producer Jay Q The Legend returns with his latest hit-in-the-making ‘It Could Be You’. Blending RnB lyrics, hip-hop beats, and a sprinkling of reggae influences, this new jam sees him continue his upward ascent with hip-shaking vigour.

Kerry Kathleen – ‘Over And Over Again’

Following up her well received debut EP ‘Reverie’ last year, LA-based singer and multi-instrumentalist Kerry Kathleen now kicks off her 2020 with the release of her latest sweeping single ‘Over And Over Again’. Combining glossy production with a smooth and laid-back aesthetic sees her return in stellar form with this wonderfully angelic electro-pop offering.
