Chart topping dance collective Rudimental have been announced as the headline act to play at Legends of Football 2019, supported by Equals.

Legends of Football supported by Equals, is an annual charity event, supported by the Premier League in aid of music therapy charity, Nordoff Robbins. Working out of their own centres and in partner organisations around the UK, the charity uses music to enrich the lives of the most isolated and vulnerable people.

This year, former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger will receive the 2019 award.

Rudimental lead singer Locksmith commented: “The whole band are huge football fans so we can’t wait to perform in October. It will be particularly special for me as an Arsenal fan to get the chance to attend and honour Arsène for all his years of service. He was Mr Arsenal for twenty years and gave so much to the club.”

The band, who have had three UK number ones, recently bolstered their sporting credentials when they co-produced the official Cricket World Cup song, “Stand By”, with new artist LORYN. The four-piece, originally from Hackney, are currently enjoying a residency at Ibiza Rocks Hotel.

Rudimental will be among a crowd of star-studded names from the world of football and music who will flock to the JW Marriott Grosvenor House London to honour Wenger. The former Monaco and Nagoya Grampus manager will follow in the footsteps of Sir Alex Ferguson, Pelé and Frank Lampard OBE who received the award last year.

The dinner has raised a staggering £8m since Jimmy Greaves was Guest of Honour at its inaugural event in 1996.

Geoff Shreeves, Sky Sports presenter and Legends of Football chairman, who will present with Alex Scott on the night, added: “We’re delighted to welcome aboard the Rudimental boys for this year’s event, in aid of Nordoff Robbins. Having visited the Nordoff centre earlier this year, they saw for themselves the power of music therapy. We look forward to another brilliant evening on 7th October and can’t wait to honour another Premier League legend with the help of one of the UK’s most popular bands.”

Rudimental will perform at a star-studded event on 7 October at JW Marriott Grosvenor House honouring Arsène Wenger. Visit lofootball.co.uk to secure your table.
