There was no doubting it was a hot night on the iconic Il-Fosos Square, yet this year’s Isle of MTV Malta headliners still managed to raise the mercury levels further with some of the biggest hits of the summer performed in front of a square full of thousands of fans.
The 13th edition of Europe’s biggest free summer festival organised in partnership with the Malta Tourism Authority kicked off with rapper and Godfather of Grime, Wiley, who opened the show with his chart topping single Boasty. American rising pop star, Ava Max took to the stage shortly afterwards to perform the much loved So Am I, number one hit Sweet But Psycho and I’m a Barbie Girl, just as the sun began to set over Il-Fosos Square.
Grammy nominated pop superstar, Bebe Rexha, wowed the crowd with her dynamic set, complete with powerhouse vocals and incredible band. Music fans of all ages sang along to her most famous songs including Me, Myself and I, I’m A Mess’, Say My Name and Call You Mine, which she performed for the first time on stage.
Martin Garrix closed the night in truly spectacular style. Along with a visually stunning set featuring pyrotechnics, confetti canons, fireworks and special lighting effects, the global superstar DJ and producer who has conquered the dance and pop charts around the world, performed a string of hits including In the Name of Love, Summer Days, Scared to be Lonely.

For the third consecutive year, the main show will be followed by Isle of MTV Malta Music Week from 9th – 14th July, which promises to be a week of events at the hottest venues across the island, from open-air club nights to sunset boat parties.
