In a candid, new video for the #MyYoungerSelf mental health awareness campaign, Grammy Award musician Rick Springfield, shares his advice on depression with his younger self: “I wish I'd been able to talk to people when I was 14, but I didn't really know what depression was. That's a very powerful thing, to talk to people. You talk with someone and you kind of release it a little bit. I meditate, I'm grateful for my family. And most importantly, I hug dogs.”

Every day this May, a different celebrity is sharing an inspiring, homemade cell phone video, speaking to their younger self – and to kids struggling today – about overcoming a mental health or learning disorder. The Child Mind Institute’s #MyYoungerSelf campaign is focused on ending the stigma attached to mental health and learning disorders, and encouraging every young person to get the help they need and deserve.
