Caudwell Children, the national charity that provides practical and emotional support to disabled children and their families, is offering music lovers the chance to volunteer at the UK’s top music festivals this summer.
And by volunteering their time at such notable festivals as Glastonbury, Reading, Download and Bestival, individuals will be boosting Caudwell Children’s charity coffers enabling them to support even more disabled children across the UK.
Not only that, volunteers will get free entry to the festival that they volunteer at, as well as a wide range VIP perks during the event.
“We’ve partnered with the not for profit organisation My Cause UK, to raise funds for Caudwell Children, by encouraging existing and new charity supporters to volunteer their time at the UK’s top festivals,” said Megan Hayman-Tansley, fundraising volunteer manager at Caudwell Children. “This is a brilliant way for people to make new friends, get experience in the music and events industry and see some amazing bands for free, saving up to as much as £280 on festival tickets.”
Volunteers can donate their time at 34 festivals across the UK. The amount of time that they work will depend on the festival but at weekend shows (Wednesday – Monday) they would work a maximum of three, eight hour shifts across the six day period.
All shifts are arranged to give volunteers plenty of time to experience the event, and at the longer festivals they’re given the opportunity to swap their shifts with other volunteers to ensure that they enjoy the bands that they want to see.
Volunteers work during daylight hours either stewarding, facilitating environmental and recycling schemes, or taking tickets.
“It’s an amazing opportunity to raise funds for a cause you feel passionate about without having to fundraise,” continued Megan. “There’s no planning needed, you don’t have to get friends and family to sign sponsor forms and then spend months chasing up the money.
“The charity simply gets a donation, from My Cause UK, in exchange for your time.”
The organiser’s promise volunteers excellent training, prior to each event, a friendly and supportive management team, and plenty of tea and coffee!
Volunteers need to pay a refundable deposit which enables them to register for as many festivals as they want. “The deposit acts as a bond to ensure that volunteers turn up to undertake their duties,” explained Megan. “It’s returned once they have completed their final shift and one deposit can secure a place at every event.
“The festivals run between May 25th – September 22nd and the early bird waiting list is now open. So I’m urging anyone interested in a summer of musical madness to register now, to avoid disappointment, as places are available on a first come, first served basis.”
